Brown hosted an Iftar dinner on the occasion of the Islamic religious holiday Ramadan in Tuzi on July 16.  More than 60 religious, political, cultural, business, and civil society contacts of the Embassy representing multiple faith communities attended the event.

In her remarks, Ambassador Brown said: “Just as we are doing tonight, so too in America, people of all faiths and backgrounds join Muslim Americans at Iftar dinners. Each year, the President of the United States and the Secretary of State host Iftar dinners to celebrate the diversity of America and America’s positive relationship with Muslims around the world.”

This is the ninth Iftar dinner organized by U.S. Mission in Montenegro.  Similar events were organized in 2005, 2006, and 2010 in Podgorica; 2007 in Pljevlja; 2009 and 2011 in Ulcinj; and in 2012 in Bijelo Polje.
